Finished Deathly Hallows just now. It took about 12 hours from when I started reading it. My Lj will remain a spoiler-free zone.

I am quite satisfied with the book, and will say nothing more except in person or on the phone to people who have declared they either don't care to read it, have read it in full, or tell me they actually *want* spoilers. Any such persons are invited to call or visit for such purpose. :)

Went by Meijer's on my way home from a late roleplaying game to see if they had copies of HP&tDH. They do, or did. They said they had four palettes' worth. I held off buying one, since I knew I am on the library list as #122 out of 500+ reserves, and [livejournal.com profile] illyaa ordered one from Amazon to arrive tomorrow. Patience, patience, I told myself in this time of no job. Save the $21.

I'm glad I did because I just checked the library site. It says they have 200 copies. I will therefore be in the first wave of people to get it. I wonder if it will be ready if I am there when they open tomorrow. }8^)

It's Can(n)on in honor of International Talk Like a Pirate Day and fictional heroine Hermione Granger's birthday, both today.

While I am bummed out that Google didn't have anything piratey on its logo today, you make sure you post to your LJ today and examine the post button... :) Avast!

I am such a fangirl.

I got HBP from the library. I put it on my requests back in February. I was 39th in line out of over 380 by the time it was officially available, yesterday. I checked my online library account three times yesterday morning to see if/when I could pick it up. Just after the copy J ordered from Amazon appeared in our mailbox, I went out to the library to pick up mine.

I finished it last night right about midnight.

I don't care that S watched "Dumbo" twice while I read it. J was reading too, the other copy. He finished it about an hour ago.

On the other hand, I could be a lot worse. This week, I heard an interview on NPR about [livejournal.com profile] hogwarts_elite. I went and checked it out. The application thing seemed neat. They ask about your favorite and least favorite book, least favorite character and other things that seem interresting to discuss. The last question asks how much time you expect to put in to participating in the community. They seem to want to be very exclusive and make active participation a big deal. A VERY BIG deal.

The first application I read over, the applicant said she was planning to put in "A few good hours, at least two, on most days."

YIKES. Nevermind, I'm not interrested in applying after all. They are good books, excellent books, IMO, but sheesh. Get a life!
