They just keep getting more absurd. Some of the most rabidly anti-choice zealots in Ohio — a hotspot in our Stand with the StatesSM campaign — gathered Tuesday for a hearing on a proposed abortion ban even more extreme than South Dakota's.
Ready for this? They're advancing a ban that would criminalize abortions for ALL women in Ohio — including when necessary to save a woman's life.
Even when bans do contain exceptions — which this one doesn't — they are "bad for women's health, bad medicine and bad public policy," as the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of Ohio, Gary Dougherty, puts it. We can't let this stay under the radar.
The bill's sponsor, State Rep. Tom Brinkman, would rather play politics with his constituents' lives than get serious about preventing unintended pregnancy. Let's show him that Americans won't let the women of Ohio be his political pawns.
