101 in 1001

There's this goal-oriented meme that's going around: set yourself one hundred and one goals to complete in the next one thousand and one days (roughly 2.75 years). This is a bandwagon I am jumping on. It's BIGGER than New Year's Resolutions! It's more awesome than a locomotive...it's 101/1001!

Testing...

Was offered a Dreamwidth account code (Thanks!), and am trying it out. I wonder how to transfer old posts. I wonder if comments get copied too. I guess I will find out.

Does anybody else think of Wolfram and Hart...

...in hearing about this new, about-to-be-launched, search engine, WolframAlpha?

Ok, this Twitter thing...

I finally gave in and joined up. Not that I will text from my mobile or anything. Well, anytime soon.

It's an experiment, I guess.

Same username as here, in case you wondered.

Anybody care to tell me their twitter usernames? ::cue creepy potential stalker leer::

I am a gardener

Or, rather, I got notice of my assigned Project Grow plot. A half plot, right where I wanted it at the nearest PG location, which is less than a mile from home. Whoo hoo! A new summer routine of morning weeding and evening harvesting is not that far away. Fresh salads, picked perhaps an hour before serving, are in my near future!

Now I really have to get bike panniers. (The ones I ordered last fall were canceled on me due to no stock.) Then I will be able to pick up veggies on the way home from the library, or carry a few tools to the plot easily.

Cold Day...No School

It's about -10 our there right now. I don't even want to think about the wind chill. The predicted high is about 5 above. There is no school due to the cold and wind chill.

And my husband didn't check before he got our kids up.

Sigh.

Project Grow in 2009!

Yay! I have applied for my Project Grow plot. I *really* want one at the location nearest my house...it's only about a mile away.

Resolutions meme

In 2009, cherydactyl resolves to...
Give some kids to charity.
Become a better eureka.
Find a better peace.
Keep my impermanence clean.
Cut down on my walking.
Take evening classes in children.
Get your own New Year's Resolutions:

Being a Buddhist

Have confidence in your own spiritual potentiality, your ability to find your own unique way. Learn from others certainly and use what you find useful, but also learn to trust your own inner wisdom. Have courage. Be awake and aware. Remember too that Buddhism is not about being a Buddhist; that is, obtaining a new identity tag. Nor is it about collecting head-knowledge, practices and techniques. It is ultimately about letting go of all forms and concepts and becoming free.

--John Snelling, Elements of Buddhism, from Everyday Mind, edited by Jean Smith, a Tricycle book
