A bad marriage can literally break your heart?

A bad marriage or other caustic primary relationship may be linked to a bad heart, i.e., increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Thanks to the lj-friend who cited this on her journal.

At times like this, I'm kind of glad I'm single. Of course, other studies found that being single was worse for your health than being married, so take your pick.

I think the upshot is that having a good support network has a protective effect on your health, but having a bad one can ruin it worse than not having one. It's pretty common sense if you accept that human beings are social creatures and need the love and care of other human beings to truly thrive.
