Huh, all I get when I click on their download link is a 1KB file called ebx.etd.

Apparently that is the file that does the authentication/rights thingy...it's working for me when I open it in adobe.

This is not a permanent ebook...it has a time expiration on it of 30 days according to the entry in Gaiman's blog. That is, you can only use if to 30 days before it goes blooey; therefore the digital rights thingummy.

It opened in Adobe Reader and then seemed to download the actual PDF, which I saved a copy of on my desktop. I think maybe you need to let the file open instead of choosing 'save as'? Did you try to open the file in Reader?

I tried downloading the file and then opening it later in Reader and that worked, though I had to make sure I gave Reader internet access to do it. Have you got your firewall set to block such connections, maybe?
