As tagged by [livejournal.com profile] anderyn, I am listing the five bribes calculated to get me motivated.

1. Have my kids for a playdate.

2. Do or schedule time to help me do a household repair or maintenance or improvement.

3. Arrange a service such as professional massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, makeup consultation, wardrobe consultant, or some kind of bodywork and/or makeover help for me.

4. Books or music or other media, especially anatomy references, yoga-related stuff, puzzles, or something you think I may like but might not think of or get for myself. Or lend me materials, or even make suggestions for things from the library. A thoughtful suggestion is much more welcome than an expensive gift that doesn't match my interests.

5. Invite me out or over, for an evening, for a weekend, or for an hour, perhaps to a bar or dinner or for games or something. I don't mean for a movie. I mean out something which has conversation is a substantial part of the event. Talk to me about any mutual interest: books, yoga, music, culture, kids, games, philosophy, or anything, even politics or religion (as long as we keep our heads and can agree to disagree on any volatile stuff).

There are a lot of things I would be willing to do for you if you'd do one of these for me. That's what a good bribe is about!
For "memes" like this one, I'm supposed to tag five others who will then tag five others, and on and on until the meme has TAKEN OVER THE WORLD! BWHAH-HAH-HAH.

So in the interests of spreading this meme, I'll tag.... hmmm....
[livejournal.com profile] birdofparadox, [livejournal.com profile] sorcycat, [livejournal.com profile] therck, [livejournal.com profile] beginnermind, and [livejournal.com profile] pegasus_99

And, of course, if anyone else wants to steal this meme and run away with it, go for it! I look forward to seeing what motivates you all.

Edit: I need to add this, since [livejournal.com profile] anderyn explained the reference on her own bribe list:
BPAL products, such as sample vials
suggested scents include anything citrusy or spicy, maybe Envy, Greed, Wrath, or Delight for example

The Friday Five

First instalment today:

1) If you were to star in a movie, who would you want to be cast as your love interest?
Kenau Reeves or Johnny Depp

2) What genre of movie would you most like to star in?
Time Travel Mystery Thriller. Intense situations and non-linear time make for interesting stuff.

3) What song would you insist be on the soundtrack?
Life in One Day by Howard Jones and I.G.Y. (What A Beautiful World) (by Donald Fagan) as performed by HoJo, too.

4) What would you wear to the premiere of your movie?
Something sexy but not impractical, perhaps a gown with a low back, and shoes I can walk in without breaking my neck, probably sandals, unless I can go barefoot somehow. No pasties allowed, don't even ask.

5) Who would you thank in your Oscar acceptance speech?
I get an Oscar too? Wow! My kids, definitely my kids!

quoting from Zen Is Boring, found thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nearfar in [livejournal.com profile] buddhists

People hate their ordinary lives. We want something better. This, our day to day life of drudgery and work, is boring, dull and ordinary, we think. But someday, someday... There's an episode of The Monkees* where Mike Nesmith says that when he was in high school he used to walk out on the school's empty stage with a guitar in his hands thinking "Someday, someday." Then he said that now (now being 1967, at the height of the Monkees fame) he walks out on stage in front of thousands of fans and thinks "Someday, someday." That's the way life is. It's never going to be perfect. Whatever "someday" you imagine, it will ever come. Never. No matter what it is. No matter how well you build your fantasy or how carefully you follow all the steps necessary to achieve it. Even if it comes true exactly the way you planned, you'll end up just like Mike Nesmith. Someday, someday... I guarantee you.

Your life will change. That's for sure. But it won't get any better and it won't get any worse. How can you compare now to the past? What do you know about the past? You don't have a clue! You have no idea at all what yesterday was really like, let alone last week or ten years ago. The future? Forget about it...

Ex-WUOM staffers charged
Just two weeks before a key fundraising drive, Michigan Radio officials are hoping to minimize the fallout from revelations Thursday that three former employees took gifts ranging from airline tickets to golf club memberships in exchange for on-air mention on the popular public radio station heard across the state.

Ah, public radio and the public trust.
