50% General American English |
25% Yankee |
15% Upper Midwestern |
5% Dixie |
5% Midwestern |
I wonder why there is so much Yankee...maybe Michigan is part yankee and part midwestern??
I've also been told there is notable Brit English influence in my language. I remember a Linguistics class (generative grammar, first intellectual playground of Noam Chomsky) in which the prof told me I must have read too much British English if I thought *that* sentence was gramatical!
I guess he was right. I loved Narnia, The Adrian Mole Diaries, etc. I also love Harry Potter (and want to read the Brit editions if I get the chance sometime).

I think something is broken in the code for the logical intelligence sub-score. Unless my logic is flawed, anyway. ;-)
I went back and tried other answers until I verified which were the logic questions. I did this by eliminating those that afftected sub-scores other than logic, just to make sure. Then I tried changing all my aswers on those questions to see the effect. I never was able to improve the logic subscore from 'below average', and I kept getting lower total scores. Maybe expecting this quiz to measure IQ is a test of logic skills? heh.
Once for a psych class, I was required to be a psych test subject, like many undergrad psych students. For one study, I took part of a GRE exam. I enjoyed it. I am weird this way, I enjoy taking standardized tests. Anyway, for purposes of the psychological testing they did, they had us lab rats write some little essay questions while they purportedly scored our tests. This was in the era of paper based testing, you understand.
Then they gave us the scores. The paper said I had scored in some lowish percentile. I am not sure if it was 55th or below 50th or what. I immediately knew this score was impossible, a mistake, something, whatever. I had nailed those logic questions. I never did that poorly on any standardized test...I was usually 90 or 95th precentile plus, certainly not below 60th. Then they had us write some more. Turns out this was a psych test about self-esteem and image, and the scores were made up. Duh. Anybody who got into UM should have been able to do better than the score they used if you ask me. This was a fatal flaw, in my opinion. I told the researchers so in the evaluation after they told us what was up.
I wonder what ever came of that research study, if anything.
