I was 30 before I figured that one out. Although I usually phrase it as 'You can't save your friends from themselves'.
Damn, but that cartoon stirs up a turmoil inside me. Clearly, I may have learned that lesson, but I haven't yet fully internalized it yet.
{Black humor alert} Although I note with sardonic amusement that it's hard to tell in the upper inset panel if he's hugging or strangling her....
