Yesterday I washed the kids' snow gear to put it away for the season. Today it is snowing. Of course.

We *almost* took the snow tires off last week. Kind of glad we held off...

It didn't actually stick where you guys are, did it? We just had a dusting of white stuff on our grass, which is all gone now of course.

Why must Michigan play with us like this?!

And here I'm suffering because I only packed a couple of sets of shorts in my luggage -- the rest don't arrive til later this week. ;)

But yeah, there's some freaky weather -- we had sleet a week or two ago, up in Seattle. Like I needed more reasons to leave.

I've only been in Seattle as an adult once for just under a week (conference when I worked for the AACVB), but I liked it there immensely. Of course, I was there in summer. I was also born there, and anywhere with nearby mountains is teh best in me book.

I love California weather, but you can keep the commutes and traffic. Ugh.

I laugh because Seattle's traffic is 10x as bad as the Bay Area now. At least the Bay Area actually expands roads. Seattle just commissions studies. :)

I'll be curious to see whether getting on the highway for a mile is worse or better than taking side streets to work.

I love the mountains in both CA and WA. When I come back and visit Michigan, I'm always struck by how flat everything is.

Yeah, I knew intellectually the traffic is bad in Seattle too. It's just that I've seen how far you have to drive for everything in the LA area before. I have a cousin who lives in Orange County. You could not pay me enough to live like her family does. My ideal situation includes being able to walk for errands like groceries. Not that I can do that now, but maybe before too long.

Yeah, it would take an insanely good proposition to deal with So Cal traffic on a regular basis. I consider Seattle to be not quite as bad....5 years of increased population while not actually building out any of the roads or bridges to accomodate more traffic. There are still less people in Seattle, but fewer lanes means about the same level of frustration, especially when anything actually goes wrong.

The bay area isn't nearly so bad. Today, I had to run my rental back to the airport (uh, 8-10 miles each way) during "rush hour" and I made it in decent time. It helps that while I was gone, they upgraded a few critical junctions.

snow way!
