Ashes to Ashes, sequel series to Life on Mars - Wow. I was a doubter after how Life on Mars ended, but I watched the first show and immediately became a fan. Surreal and awesome. I heard they are making an american version of Life on Mars. I'm interested, but it's hard to believe it will be as good.
Doctor Who and Torchwood - I don't even know what to say about this one. It's that awesome. Not that there aren't flaws, but generally I must see these as soon as possible.
Eureka - I *LOVE* this show. It's got weird gadgetry, odd science, geeks in charge, time travel/looped causality, and a gourmet chef who caters to the geeks. What's not to love? I am awaiting its third season with a lot of anticipation. It's hard to wait until the end of July for it!
Grey's Anatomy - I haven't watched the season finale yet (that's on tap for today), but this show is great. It's sexy and character-driven, with wonderful stories.
House, M.D. - The finale showed off what I like about this series. It has interesting and likable characters, *especially* the jerks, and they tell great non-linear stories, which is one of the strongest characteristics of this show.
Journeyman - I really, really wish this show had not been canceled!!! Excellent time travel drama.
Mythbusters - What is not to like about this show? Geeks unapologetically geeking out!
Numb3rs - They use the math poorly on occasion, but this show is still doing more for mathematics than anything else out there while still maintaining excellent stories and characters. I want Larry Fleinhardt as my mentor.
Terry Pratchett - When his books come out, I get them as fast as I can and read straight through. This man is the master of satire. And his footnotes! Truly his own innovation and trademark. Good Omens (with Neil Gaiman) was excellent, his Discworld novels are awesome, and the Tiffany Aching series has given me much joy reading to my family. He is a great inspiration to everyone working on Alzheimer's research, with his recent announcement of his own diagnosis.
M. Night Shyamalan's Movies - I haven't seen The Village yet, but I have enjoyed all of the movies I have seen, especially Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense. I like his storytelling style, though the crap he pulled with the SciFi Channel on the psuedo-documentary to promote The Village did not impress me.
Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me - I love Peter Sagal with a fiery passion. In a respectful, fan kind of way. All the rotating panelists are great; I can't even pick a dream panel as it would be at least double the correct number of people. This kind of human-scale intellectual humor is exactly my cup of tea.
Joss Whedon - Firefly was awesome. (I liked parts of Serenity, and hated others, but blame that on the compression effect, mostly.) I am currently watching 4th season Buffy and 1st season Angel, on loan from

Date: 2008-05-26 11:52 pm (UTC)I used to watch House, and just never started up again after the writers' strike was over. I'd say I got tired of how many times he got the diagnosis wrong before he got it right, but was still regarded as godlike.... But I stopped watching Bones, too, and I don't have any excuses there.
