Absolutely not.

1. Tell you why I friended you.
I've known you for 20 years as of last month. (Isn't that a frightful thought!) Of course I'm going to friend you on lj, what am I a cretin? Besides, I really enjoy your "what the heck is this?" posts.

2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a color, a photo, etc.
If you have a ruling fandom, it is debate. Or maybe trivia. Both together is even better.

3. Tell you something I like about you.
There is never a dull moment when you are around. We can argue for hours. This is a good and, occasionally, a bad point. ;-)

4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
I recall crooning "One More Minute" to you at a picofest that one time. Also, stopping for ice cream at that place in Jackson when we went on a meandering drive for entertainment one afternoon, where they had pineapple shakes.

5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
Do you miss our old DragonQuest game? You know the one in which our characters are flying through the snowstorm, suspended mid-flight?

6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.

So, what exactly did you get your PhD for? I mean, what were you intending to do with that education, since a university position is apparently not the reason? Or was it a "because I can" kind of activity?

You're right about the pictures; since I don't do much with the Habitrail, I don't see much point in starting a blog here, as they look so forlorn when the are abandoned.

As for the PhD, I started it because I wanted to work on the economic aspects of public policy. It's pretty clear to me that most of the evils in this world are directly caused by (or made worse due to) the dynamics of money, and not being a conservative reactionary I think that public institutions can do some productive things on that level. As it stands I obviously haven't been able to translate the degree into a job, but I'm hopeful that the work I'm doing with the Center for Community Based Enterprise (www.c2be.org) will help position me to get a job worth having, if it doesn't turn into one itself.

I forget where I got the lemmings loop. I thought it was the perfect icon for memes when I saw it; so I gakked it.

Have I? I don't think I've done this exact meme before, but it's possible I am forgetting, or that I have done something very similar. I know I've done one or two with favorite userpics before.

Because I enjoy your company and your posts, and because I keep hoping we can play DragonQuest again sometime.

You had a hand in the design of my favorite library, you are kind and gentle and insightful, and you made my character's love interest NPC look like Sean Bean. Okay, that's three things.
