Date: 2007-11-20 07:52 pm (UTC)I enjoy your company immensely, and I am glad you took me up on my invitation to read my ramblings.

Games. Does that qualify as a fandom?
3. Tell you something I like about you.
Besides your hair? Your bubbly personality and apparently boundless enthusiasm.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
Playing Three Dragon Ante (or whatever it's called) at your place when we came over for games.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
So, what exactly did you get your PhD for? I mean, what were you intending to do with that education, since a university position is apparently not the reason? Or was it a "because I can" kind of activity?
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.
You don't have any userpics. I suspect this is because you are using lj as a reader only. Maybe you could put the one use use on your web page up:

Date: 2007-11-26 02:33 am (UTC)As for the PhD, I started it because I wanted to work on the economic aspects of public policy. It's pretty clear to me that most of the evils in this world are directly caused by (or made worse due to) the dynamics of money, and not being a conservative reactionary I think that public institutions can do some productive things on that level. As it stands I obviously haven't been able to translate the degree into a job, but I'm hopeful that the work I'm doing with the Center for Community Based Enterprise (www.c2be.org) will help position me to get a job worth having, if it doesn't turn into one itself.
